Crawdaddy Club
The Crawdaddy Club opened in 1963 in the Station Hotel in Richmond featuring The Rolling Stones as its house band,
So popular was the band - The Beatles came to see them on 14 April 1963 - with audiences overflowing onto the street, within weeks the Crawdaddy had to move to a bigger venue - namely The RAG.
When the Stones became too big and went on tour, their residency at the Crawdaddy was taken over by The Yardbirds, featuring Eric Clapton. Other artists who played at the club included Led Zeppelin, Long John Baldry, Elton John and Rod Stewart. Gigs are held on a monthly basis at the ground on Friday nights and feature top R&B bands.
